“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi
We are living in some scary, stressful times.
Every single day is another fear-driven crisis or problem needing to be cured. Every day the world shakes its collective head and wonders who will come along and put a stop to this never-ending stress.
What if you are part of the solution and the world is waiting for you?
Take a second and think about that.
Instead of griping and moaning about the world’s problems and how nobody does anything to fix them, what if for a second, you stood in front of your mirror, took a good hard look and asked the question, “What if it’s me? What if I’m the one they are all waiting for?”
What emotions does that bring up for you? Scary? Exciting? Mind-boggling? Exhausting?
Can you feel the excuses bubbling up to the surface?
What? You aren’t a leader?
Then you could follow. A leader can’t lead unless they have people willing to take on the mantle and step in right behind. In fact, the person more powerful than a leader, the person with even more courage, is the first follower, the one who has the guts to step out and say, in the face of naysayers, “They are right, and I’m going too.”
The world needs both, leaders and followers. It needs you, wherever your own special brand of gifts are. The world may be waiting for YOU! It needs you. It needs the visionaries and the detailed planners, the action takers, the foot soldiers and the encouragers.
So, I ask you again, what if you can be the change you want to see happen?
Don’t Look Now, but your Emotions are Trying to Tell You Something.
Here is something to ponder. If when you hear something, it: breaks your heart, leaving you with an ache that stays with you for days, gnaws at your soul, angers you, frustrates you, has you complaining to anyone that will listen, watching repeated programs, information, reading and continuing that heart-pain over and over again, while you say, “somebody needs to do something about this, it’s an outrage…
That somebody is you.
What are you willing to do about it?
I’m not asking you to go charging off on your white horse, sword in hand.
Well, not if you don’t have a white horse or a sword. If you do, then by all means, what are you waiting for?
But for the rest of us, lasting change comes with one drop of water in the bucket at a time. Do you have a drop you can put in? Maybe two? It isn’t necessary to change the world or your life all in one swoop. That creates overwhelm, not change. Too much all at once is a recipe for the ego to go off on a tangent, convincing you that you are too slow, too inadequate and too big of a failure.
Lower your expectations. Do one teeny tiny thing. Add one drop to the bucket. Do one more teeny tiny thing. Add the second drop. Then a few more, and more until one day you will look down and realize you have a full bucket. If everyone had a bucket full of change, we would fill every ocean with goodness. compassion, generosity and love.
Doesn’t that seem like a world you want to be a part of?
All you need to focus on is the first drop.
Are you ready?
Set…
Go…slow- one drop at a time.
