Chicagoland Packmates, I have a confession to make.
I have been SO busy focusing on painting and building up an inventory of paintings for future art sales that I have not been engaging with our Bonds of Blood and Spirit Saga readers and local writers as much as I would love to.
Deborah Dorchak (My writing & business partner and co-author of the Saga) has been doing all the heavy lifting promoting and marketing our books in Las Vegas and has done an amazing job while I have been nothing short of a slacker!
If you live in the Las Vegas area, you would be able to walk into your local Barnes and Noble store and see The Bonds of Blood and Spirit books right on the shelves, selling like hotcakes! We had a wonderful book signing there in the spring, with a line of people during the entire event and had a blast meeting new readers and devoted fans. (Known to each others as Packmates—we love our fans!!)
You would be able to check the books out at the libraries or, if you are a writer, join in a discussion group with other writers that Deb has met along the way.
You would be able to join us in October when we host a Writer’s Roundtable Discussion about How to Create Unforgettable Characters that Pull at the Heartstrings, or come to the Vegas Valley Book Festival.
Here? Not so much…
This has got to stop!!
So here is the plan to get us started in the Chicagoland side of things:
First: Two big boxes of the Bonds of Blood and Spirit Saga has been delivered to my door. (Sheesh, these books really are heavy!) I will bring copies of the books with me when I am teaching the Alcohol Ink class on October 6th. If you haven’t gotten your book yet and have been meaning to, you can get it there.
Second:If you DO have the books, we have a page on our website with our Packmates with their books. Can I just say there are more Vegas readers represented than Chicagoland readers? HELP! Can you PLEASE take a selfie picture of yourself with one of the books, ( pick one or if you have them all, line them up, it’s up to you, ) and send us your picture for our Packmates page. Chicagoland needs to be redeemed!
Third: We would like to see our local Barnes & Noble stores carry the books inside their stores here like they are in their Vegas location. Since the beginning when the books were published, the series has been available to readers online at Barnes & Noble, however they are yet to be featured inside the stores except in Las Vegas! Some of our Packmates have already called the local stores and requested that they carry them, but the more interest in the books, the better. If you are interested in helping the cause by asking them to carry the books, we would be very grateful!! I will also bring them the information about our sales from Vegas. (Our store sales are very good!) So, keep your fingers crossed and if you happen to think of it, put in a good word, okay?
Fourth: For the writers out there and the always-wanted-to-be-a-writers out there… I am very interested in starting a local writers group. A group where we can share knowledge, discuss projects, motivate and challenge each other. I have looked around at what is out there locally and unless I am willing to drive far- and I’m not- there doesn’t seem to be what I am looking for. If you are interested, let me know. I can make it happen.
So that’s the plan. And I need your help to make it happen! It’s my goal to make the Pack a well-known thing around here instead of a “What the heck was this post about anyhow?”
And if you read the whole thing and still have no idea… you need to read these books. Then you will understand.
Welcome to the Pack.
